COVID-19 Gives Us More Time to Spend on Our Hobbies
Although self-isolation during COVID-19 has been difficult for everyone, it does have its perks. For those of us who have found it challenging to make time for our hobbies in the past, self-isolation has opened up some free time to devote to relaxing pursuits.
Turn Networking Time Into Online Hobby Time
Remember those boring networking events you felt like you had to attend to advance your career? Now that you don't have to attend networking events after work to talk more about work after putting in eight hours or more at the office, why not log on to a chat room with some fellow hobbyists? Chat about something you really want to talk about, like your scale model train setup, RC cars, or your latest drone camera purchase. Or give our hobby shop in Ithaca a call at 607-277-0177 to ask about what's in stock. We ship directly to our customers for maximum self-isolation hobby enjoyment.
No “Around Town” Errands Means More Hobby Time
Self-isolation means a whole list of errands can be checked off your to-do list, including picking up the dry cleaning, going to the pharmacy, the barbershop, hair salon, the post office, and so many other non-essential errands. Now you can fill that time with something you really enjoy. You've probably been putting off a lot of things related to your favorite hobby for months because you have other obligations you had to focus on.
If you're in self-isolation, you'll never have a better time to focus on yourself and enjoy some "me" time to relax and enjoy your hobbies. Break out your remote control cars or trucks, open that fabulous model kit you've been wanting to assemble, or get to work on the next phase of your electric train set up. You can do any of these activities by yourself while social distancing, so you can protect yourself and others while enjoying yourself. If you have questions or need guidance about your setup or assembly, you can always email Wink’s hobby shop in Tompkin’s County.
Self-Care and Keeping Your Spirits Up
If you’re self-isolating because you’ve tested positive for COVID-19 or have the symptoms of Coronavirus, the most important thing is to take proper care of yourself. Rest, seek your doctor's advice, don't overdo things, take the appropriate precautions, and err on the side of caution in all things.
Once you are feeling well enough to start doing things, take it slowly. When you have your health care provider's permission to return to some activities, and you feel up to dipping your toe into your hobbies once more, start with 10 to 15 minutes of activity at a time, then build up over time. That's one of the nicest things about having a hobby. You can indulge in your favorite hobby for as little time or as much time as you like and return to it whenever you want. It will always be there waiting for you when you're self-isolating, when you're not, and any other time. And through it all, our Ithaca hobby shop is there for you as well with everything you need to fuel your hobby dreams.
